District Attorney Matthew Barton Endorses Charlie Hoots for Senate

District Attorney Matthew Barton Endorses Charlie Hoots For Senate

June 6th, 2025

Southaven, MS  Alderman Charlie Hoots, candidate for State Senate, announced today he's been endorsed for Senate by DeSoto Co DA Matthew Barton.

"DeSoto County, you elected me to keep you and your families safe. As you know, our office works tirelessly to do just that. We don’t do it alone, as it takes partnership from other local leaders.

One of those leaders is Alderman Charlie Hoots, who has been a longtime leader when it comes to public safety.

From ensuring Southaven Police Department is fully funded to operating neighborhood watches he founded using experience from his time as a DeSoto County Sheriff’s Deputy, Hoots is in the fight to keep DeSoto safe.

When legislators in Jackson tried to strip my office and the Auditors office of the powers state law grants, Alderman Hoots was a supportive ally as a citizen and alderman.

I know where Charlie Hoots stands on keeping our county safe, and that’s why I’m proud to stand with him and offer my full endorsement for his candidacy for State Senate, District 2."
